Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) / Occupational Safety & Health Train-the-Trainer Training Course

Course Description
This 5 day course provides training in the design, delivery, and evaluation of Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training classes.  Each participant will prepare, deliver and assess from four to eight 15 - 30-minute lectures or skills training deliveries on technical issues.

  • Learn the basics or improve knowledges pertinent to specific training,
  • Satisfy OSHA's requirements for competency of hazardous waste operations and emergency response instructors,
  • Become a more competent and confident trainer,
  • Satisfy the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) requirements to be a HAZWOPER worker and instructor and provide the 40 and 24 hour initial, 8 hour refresher, and 8 hour supervisor HAZWOPER training,
  • Prepare and sit for the CET examination which will be given at the end of the training to  examinees who have registerd with NETA.
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion suitable for framing and a  wallet-sized certificate.

Live Virtual Classroom: Delivered interactively through your computer

Live Classroom: Delivered primarily via PowerPoint and digital projectors.

 

Course Itinerary
Each participant will have a personal computer and a digital projector and overhead projector with which to deliver in addition to technical resources.  Participants will be able to use and keep Richard Chinn Environmental Training, Inc.'s copyright-released HAZWOPER PowerPoint® presentation or modify or create their own presentation as desired.
  • Day 1: Instructional technology, including preparation, delivery and evaluation.
  • Day 2: Instructional technology, including preparation, delivery and evaluation.
  • Day 3: Prepare and present first training assignment.   Critique follows.
  • Day 4: Prepare and present second and third training assignment (as time allows).  Critique follows.
  • Day 5: Prepare and present third and/or fourth training assignment (as time allows).  Critique follows. Summary. Wrap up.

 

Prerequisites
  • Prior experience in occupational safety and health or hazardous waste operations or emergency response, or
  • An associate or baccalaureate degree in a physical or natural science or engineering, with coursework in chemistry,

and

  • Completion of the 40 Hour or 24 hour initial HAZWOPER training or emergency response training.

Live Virtual Classroom participants must have a computer with broadband access, a webcam and a microphone.

Prior instructional experience is not required.
